Got my Remflex gaskets and installing today.

Normal torque spec is 10 ft/lbs. The RemFlex pkg recommends 5 ft/lbs torque.

Should I go with 5 ft/lbs? That seems like NOTHING, hell 10 ft/lbs is next to nothing.......

What have you all torqued to with your RemFlex gaskets?

Yes. Let me explain how to use this type of gasket. It is not like using the original steel shim type. Since the Remflex are so thick you don't want to over tighten it and pinch it or squish them. These gaskets seal great and will seal warped surfaces! with half the torque. I really like using them at the exhaust flange donut gasket and hot box.

I use a 1/4" drive and an inch pound torque wrench on it's lowest setting. The idea is to torque it evenly. I go around at least 4 or 5 times tightening it gradually. I also use brass nuts that don't freeze up if you need to remove them. They will also strip if you over tighten the manifold, which is a good gauge if your over doing it. When you do that non of the areas can pinch the gasket. Remflex also recommend a little PAM or Teflon spray on both sides so it can slide and float. I have not had any leak with this method.

Your right it isn't much but the key is not to do it all at once at any given location. Mine is going on 8 years now....
