I have removed the dash cover and the glove box assembly, and have gotten to the black plastic box that encases the heater core. Does anyone know how to get to the core. I'm not sure how that box comes apart. Help please.......

I believe you will find several metal clips that you can work a screwdriver along the edge of the box

It depends on if you have AC or not in that car.

If no AC Richard's advice should work.

If you have AC then the Black air box will need co come off the firewall.

Than you can get the core out.

I believe that it did have a/c, but the compressor was gone before we got the car, and I don't see any clips. So, do you know how to go about removing the box from the firewall. I see screws that hold the top to the bottom, but don't see what is holding the box to the firewall.

The nuts that hold the Box to the firewall can be found on the engine side of the firewall...... Look behind the Valve cover, Cylinder head and Whasher bottle - They stick out in that area - There are probably 4-6 of them... GEt these loose and the support that holds it up from inside under the windshield and it should be out.

I have been there in many f body cars...

And a few that I parted out to keep these going...
