I have the line in the pdf going to the canister. but the other one which is labeled dist vac is the tee I'm talking about I know I know california emissions. I'm still working on the gettting the air injection back together currently all off. and with miss matched parts I don't know how the guy I got it from smogged this thing. things I would have looked at closer before I bought it. well first things first I need to figure this screetch out.

I got a smoke machine from my brother so this just help rule out vac leak now if I just need to figure out how to seal the carb.

That is one nice truck, they always look good with a two-tone paint scheme!

One more theory; the same sounds as a vacuum leak makes, may also be caused by a pressure leak; have you checked the exhaust manifold to pipe flange?
A small leak perhaps, typical of only one slightly loose bolt, that only leaks and makes sound when you put a load on it?

Olaf.

If the manifold to exhaust pipe gasket was leaking and it sounded like a squeal rather than a tap or putt I'd be checking for a plugged exhaust system.

thats what I was thinking because it seemed like I had a little more power before with the leak I do have the mini ox-convertor and the rear cat which is pretty restrictive in factory new cond. The rear cat was just replaced when I got it, I've looked for the front one with no luck so far, worst case i'll just replace it with pipe like the non california emissions have. I still have the vacuum on the dist disconnected and I'll be putting in the new distributor this weekend and still dealing with the new carb and getting it fully dialed in. ....... or to buy the new holley 2280 and put on that super six set up??? are the aluminum porous intakes that prone to leak?
