I have a 1964 Dodge Dart 270 Convertible with a 225 that's going to be road ready soon, my question is, what should I upgrade?

I'm not looking for some crazy street machine, mainly a daily driver that's somewhat safe and can get up and go on some of the hills we have in my area(they're numerous).

I'm adding discs to the front and adding in the Pertronix electronic ignition, but that's about as far as I've gotten on creating a to do list. The only necessary repairs to make it street legal are replacing the wiper motor and the muffler, but I'd like to make it safer and more reliable while it's getting body work done.

What are your suggestions?

Thanks

The front disc conversion is a great upgrade. I would also consider changing the rear brakes to 10 inch drums (disc is doable but more involved) with large bolt pattern (to go along with the front). Larger wheels and tires would be good, also (recommend at least 15 inch).
Others will make more sugestions.

Front & rear anti-sway bars and stiffer torsion bars / leaf springs.
Get the car to stop & handle well... for safer driving.

Discs up front absolutely, or at least make sure the existing brakes are properly adjusted and convert to a dual master cylinder. Get a good solid state voltage regulator. How about an electronic choke? Minor things can make a big difference.

I guess you could place wiring under the banner of safety.
Maybe check you have good earths everywhere for a start.

Thanks for all the feedback.

I have discs for the front on the way, about to order a new mc and the pertronix. I've decided to go with the Edlebrock IAS shocks per slantsixdan's recommendation(on forabodiesonly.com).

I'm thinking about a suspension rebuild but haven't decided on poly vs rubber. I'm seeing alot of back and forth on that topic as to which is better. I may also redo the exhaust as the muffler is completely torn up and will need to be replaced, so I might as well run a new pipe while I'm at it.

And possibly upgrading the lights.

As far as the wiring, after checking/upgrading all my grounds, how should I go about replacing the rest? I'm great with electrical on new cars, just never messed with it on any older cars. Will I need new harnesses or can I just replace the wires etc.?

Any other recommendations?

Again, thanks for all the help.
