Car Model:
76 S6/904 car. car on lift, engine full up.

We removed the starter and any other "stuff" in the way of the trans. The inspection shield is off. Only 2 bolts are holding the trans to the engine.

We need to unbolt the TC/flexplate bolts now. Question: how can you rotate the motor to access all 4 bolts? the crank pulley doesn't have at crank bolt installed.

Should I just install a bolt? assuming its the same as the 318 bolts?
Or is there another way to do it. I was thinking without the plugs, it might be possible to grab the flexplate and turn over the motor.

Opinions?

I usually unbolt the flexplate through the starter hole and use a large screwdriver to turn the engine one torque converter tooth at a time.

In the cases where I forget to do the converter bolts before I take the starter out, I get them from underneath and use the converter bolts to turn the motor over with. :D

If I leave the starter in I get them from underneath and use a push button to turn the motor over.

Some of my motors I have been able to get them through the starter hole too, but not all of them. I never figured out why though. :?

Also, make sure you make an index mark on the flex plate and converter. It will make putting it back together much easier. :D
