I find info that says maintenance-free batteries needs slightly more voltage than lead-acid battery cell levels that needs to be checked periodically.

If so, then this means I have issue with my 1987 carbed caravan, this charging system is done with voltage regulator module alternator. I'm using maintenance-free battery. Continually undercharged just to give starting a problem if cold enough like -15C.

This means I need to buy adjustable regulator module for this to set voltage to about 14.8V instead of 14V as this as measured in that caravan.

I'll try NAPA and see if they have one.

The change you refer to occurred in the 1970s when "maintenance free" batteries were first introduced. Nowtimes, virtually all batteries are the maintenance-free variety, whether or not they have removable cell caps. Some of them do and some of them don't; if you want to get really picky the ones with removable cell caps are called "maintenance-accessible" batteries. But the real old "constant maintenance required" types are no longer on the market, and your '87 Caravan's charging system was designed with the present-day type of battery in mind. You do not need to alter or rework the charging system in your Caravan, you just need to diagnose and fix it. Hacking it to give a charging voltage of 14.8 would not be wise or helpful.
