I am Ok with adding the lighter and heavy classes.
I also think keeping the fuel types seperate helps us, easy to see even comparisons.
Just my 2 cents.

I feel having classes for the lighter and heavier cars is a good one. I don't expect to run alcohol/E85 so I abstain from voting on the class subdivision by fuel type question. I do expect to run a heavy turbo car in the not too distant future. :D

Keeping the class subdivisions consistent throughout is the right way to go!

This all looks great to me. This will give some real Street cars some oppurtunity for some records

2 questions..........

Can a heavy car hold a record in a lighter class? (Say a 3200# car hold a record in a 2600# class)

Will 1/8th mile records continue to only be set at 1/8th mile tracks? This really penalizes the Midwest racers as we have no 1/8th mile tracks or races anywhere close. Realistically, I don't have any races anywhere close.

NHRA stockers get the 1/8th mile record whether they are on a 1/4 or 1/8th.

Other than that, carry on. :D

1st question: I believe the answer has always been no. You can only set a record in the weight class your car is actually in. I would suport continuing with this.

2nd question: 1/8 mile record on a 1/4 mile track? I have thought of bringing this up myself, but have not. This is something I can flash around at races this year and see how people feel about it. Good point about regional variability...

Since there are no 1/8th mile tracks out west that we run at I would like to see 1/8th mile records gettable on a 1/4 mile track.I think gas and alky are two different things, would have to change alot of expensive stuff to add alky.Would have built car differenty if I thought they would bee together. Will accept what the majority thinks.Guzzi Mark

Will there be a distinction between "G" and "RG" engines? I understand, previously a "G" engine would move a vehicle one class heavier. I have a vested interest in this.

I think Seymour did that to keep Mike from moving down to A and B and holding records in all 3 classes with 1 car.

Which would bring up the next question.........How long is a record good for? I think NHRA goes back to minimum after 2 years.

Just asking because some of the records are still held by cars that no longer race or in some cases exist.

Charlie, I've never heard that rule before. I think you're funnin' us.

Are you saying having a G motor in a 2600# B car would allow you to set the record in A or C?

OK, I understand. Unfortunately most of the C recrods were faster than the A or B records thanks to Mike.

OK, I understand.
Then please explain it to my pea brain! Why does a car with a 170 get moved to a heavier class? I guess If he were moved to a lighter class he would be at even more of a disadvantage compared to the lighter cars with a 225. Is that it? I'm so confused!!
