Good day to all, I've built a slant with a street /strip theme in a four speed. I'm wondering what to run for ignition? I would like to know what to run for an ignition box?, I would like to have one with a rev limiter if possible since a missed shift is inevitable.
My stock combination had already been upgraded to Mopar electronic (orange box) When the engine was run on the dyno I used the stock distributor with the electronic pick up but they had their own MSD on the dyno. My engine has slightly over 10 to 1 compression, what is the best box for this application? Is the Mopar stuff sufficient? Or an upgrade a must?
I appreciate any and all comments.

Thanks Derek

Easiest thiong to do to get a good box with a limiter is to get an MSD-6AL. The L means limiter. You can run it off your stock Mopar EI distributor.

The Crane Hi-6 ignition is another good option. I've been using one for a few years now. It's very good. Pretty much the same thing as the MSD-6AL but the Crane is digital and has dials to set rev limit instead of plug in rpm chips. The Hi-6 also has a few other neat functions, tach test mode is one, used for testing tachometer and shift light accuracy without even starting the engine.

I have had problems getting MSD accessories like the rev limiter to work with the Chrysler ignition. I finally put in a 6AL and it has worked well since with lots of street driving. Not that much more expensive than buying all the add on do-dads.

Thanks for the input from everyone, I'll look into both of these. The dial option sounds appealing.
Thanks again Derek

Summit has a rebadged version of the Crane Hi-6 (I'm assuming this because it looks the same with all the same features).

The only difference I can see is that the Summit version doesn't have a CARB EO number...

I just had a look on the Summit website, the Summit box has a much lower spark output compared to the Crane Hi-6. Unless it's a typo. :?

It's probably a Chinese knock-off.
