Hey Ron,

Gary is using the factory stamped type rocker arms. I had wanted to go with rollers originally, but we wound up going this route instead.

Will you and Judy be going to TN on the 16th?

Rob I almost lost a engine at Hamilton Ohio for that . Stock rocker arms with locknuts. What happened when I was down to the final race Dale Rose and me one of the rocker arms moved and got off the valve stem and was on the valve stem retainer. Got lucky it did not drop a valve. If your going to go fast doint let that stop you. Put the ras roller rocker arms on and just check them about two time a year. Thanks Ron :D

Thanks Ron! I'd hate to ruin this new motor, but Gary seems pretty confident that the stamped rockers are good enough.

I'll do some pokin' around on those roller rockers. Maybe I can upgrade a little later. I won't be goin' all out with this new set up for awhile I imagine!

Rob,
We have ran both I have never had any problems with the stock type aet up myself. I don't think Gary has either. However, what Ron is telling you is right that could very easily ruin a motor. The stock ones will move and can easily drop a valve to destroy the motor.

Like I said we have never had an issue but that is something you need to give some thought to definately. I would personally prefer to have the roller rockers Gary will probably disagree and say they are a waste of money. But hey we can't agree on everything. :D

Roller rockers is something I would like to have for the race engine since it will live at somewhere around 6,000 - 6,200 RPM!

They're on my list of "Next things to do"...

I'm going to have my hands more than full with all of the little things I'm going to need for the two Dusters and Dart.

Gerald said he would make some spacers to take up some of the "wiggle room" on the rocker arms for the Street Duster engine.

Has anyone else used that technique with any success? I'll post the question in the Engine Forum.

I posted the "spacer question" in the Engine Forum and Doc replied within minutes (to include detailed photos) You gotta love this Forum!

If all goes as planned Gary will have the engine in the Duster and I'll go down to pick it up the weekend of the 16th! :D

Then the thrashing begins!

(Not just on GodsRods Duster II, but also on Street Duster and the '72 Dart!) Oh yeah, I eventually need to get back to work on the '83 D150 and figure out why I'm not getting spark with the new HEI set up...

Rob, you do know I have gone 12.0 and Mike has been 11:80's with stock rockers.

I've shifted mine at 6500 with them too.

Yeah... I know...

But them Roller Rockers is so darned Purdy! Just knowin' they're under that valve cover would make me feel all warm inside.

Like I said, they're down on the priority list pretty far. Especially at $600+ bucks.

I shifted at 6200 at Hamiltion when it jumped off the vavle stem and hit the retainer and pollished all the black off it. What I like about the roller rockers for the most part you can set them and leave them. I check mine at the start of racing and mid year they doint move very stable. The roller rockers are pricey for not much gain. Also push rods my engine bent three with stock push rods and stock rocker arms. A lot of cam a lot of vavle spring preasure. I put in Smith bros pushrods and no problem. Thanks Ron :D

Push rods is something I DO need up front! I got a few bent ones I need to replace on the GodsRods Duster I / Street Duster engine.

I surfed on over to the Smith Brother's website... That's all.

I need to do some more research / measuring I guess.

I hate being so "ignent"... :x

I think I'll change my sig block to,

"I am SO limited by my own mediocrity!"

So, in my hours and hours of free time I'll get around to making myself an adjustable pushrod so I can measure things correctly.

I called Gary and he has the engine and tranny put in the car now. The tranny crossmember was missing the mount, so he's picking that up today. This thing should be ready for me to pick up this weekend! :D

GodsRods Duster II is now home and ready to be put together.

Engine and tranny are in. Now we just need to put everything else in! :D

I'll post a couple pictures of it on the trailer later tonight.
