Cast iron SL6 heads weigh between 76 and 86 lbs., depending on the casting number.
(later "peanut plug" heads are heaver then tube style heads)

Interesting, where you guess the extra metal is? Just the design, is maybe thicker deck and runner walls? I have never messed or even had a peanut head before.

It's in the spark plug side of the head. Instead of having big holes for the tubes, the head is solid.

Mike J said the peanut head is the best to port, they have thicker port walls, so a pound or so will be found there.

I have gotten numbers between 69-79 lbs using a digital scale. The 74-down heads are the lightest and 75-79 are heaviest.
