This may be a dumb question , but what is the resister thats bolted to the coil bracket called. When I go on line to buy one, the ceramic one comes up, thats not the one I want. Is it the same as the resister in the distributor, If not where can I get one, thanks in advance , Jim.

That is the radio noise suppressor. An optional item.

It's not a resistor on the coil bracket, it's a condenser (capacitor), connected across coil + and ground. As Reed says, it's for radio noise suppression. The exact item may be available as an expensive reproduction part, but there's no need to go to the expense. An ordinary ignition condenser installed across coil + and ground will do just fine.
