The Carbs Only choke it actually is a better design than the factory choke thermostat. It works better, is adjustable, and is more reliable.

But, if you simply MUST use the inferior original design, www.rockauto.com lists:

AUTO-TUNE Part # E16021
BWD/NIEHOFF Part # TH190
STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # CV230

They all run between $11 and $15 and there aren't many left in stock. I don;t believe anyone is making these anymore so the ones on Rockauto are old stock left over in parts stores inventories.

It looks like Napa is now carrying the Carbs Only kit as the replacement kit for the stock choke thermostat. See HERE

I have used the Carbs Only kit and it truly is superior to the factory unit in just about every way. I don't understand why you would want to put inferior parts on your vehicle just to make it look a certain way.

Then you had better start by removing that non-stock 2bbl setup from your car.

man did I open a can of worms? I want to know my options, no show car/truck, yea I know its not original(super6 in my 80) but it should have been. in the past I just have better luck with either stock choke setups or just plain manual chokes. I would like it to look as original as it would a have looked if the factory put em there. I have/ had a couple e.chokes on holley's 4brls and have good sucess on the big and small blocks but ran into a little oddities on ocassions if the car was warm I run in store come right back out. ocassion where it didnt need choked but was because the spring had cooled off but the motor hadn't if this makes sense

When you get a consistent answer to your question on a forum like this, it usually means that answer is being given because it's a good one, so it's usually worth following the advice you're being given. Or don't, but backtalk is kinda…not very classy, eh? Original-type non-adjustable choke thermostats for the 2bbl slant-6 aren't all that hard to find, brand new, but somehow I have lost my taste for adding info to this thread. Go fish.

fwiw I was also worried about the choke clearance with my vaccum amplifier but I wanted to say THANKS, Reed and everyone else! I do take all your advice ( bought the carb from a place Reed suggeted) thanks again! I do spend most of my time on this site reading and you all are a wealth of knowledge, and I appreciate it. I in no way was attemping to talk back talk or disregard advice or opinions as I was only stating mine. I thought that was what forums where all about dicussing options, opinions & expressing ideas .....................

sorry to bore you dan I respect your knowledge of the slants and have read alot of your post, and know that you contribute alot to this site, allthough I didn't expect to get treated like I did from someone of your stature.... I will no longer bore you again Thanks a million everyone![[/b]
