Just got through disassembling the front end parts from my 63 Valiant and realized that we pressed the upper ball joints out of the control arms. They're threaded!
So, now I have the remnants of threads (ribs) in both control arms, and a front end rebuild set on the way. Have I thrashed these control arms? Do I need to go look for replacements? Or will the new ball joints screw in OK? I know...I know...I can't be the first one to do this! Thanks!

I think it is time to go upper control arm shopping. I suspect that by pressing out the joint, you have striped, and expanded the size of its hole. Personally I would not trust the arms ability to properly hold a new joint.

Side thought department:
This additional expense is going to be more than the cost of a Factory Service Manual.

Dammit! Should have known better...neither of my 2 FSMs weren't within 20 miles of the destruction that took place.  Funny thing is that we didn't actually press them out - we smacked them out with a small brass sledge. I guess they aren't the strongest threads in the world?

Anyway, there's a guy selling the ctl arm/spindle/drum assemblies from a '67 Dart - I'm assuming they're the same as my '63, no? Here's the ad.
