Hey guys.

So my accelerator pump is about done and my carb needs rebuilt. It has lean burn. And it's a 1945 Holley. My dad said he was gonna look and see if he can get one through his shop or look around for one that is jetted up a bit since I don't really have any money for a super six. Maybe hei if I'm lucky. How big can I go on the jets? And what is the best single bbl?

Thanks
Cody

You only have 2 stock choices:

Holley 1920 #58 jet

Holley 1945 (pre-79) #61 jet

I wouldn't bother with a Carter BBS and your truck.

How d'you figure this one-size-fits-all business? Fact is, there were many different jet sizes used in the many different 1920s and 1945s installed on the various year-model-engine-transmission-emission package configurations.

I think when I had my 1920 apart it had a 54 main jet. I just added headers so now seems like a good time to play around with jetting.
Ooops, I got a lil off on a tangent there.

The subject line he was asking for was jetting up...that's the max jetting that these carbs can use without going super rich...the 1920 with a 54-55 and the 1945 with a 58 are too lean to get a stock duster to motivate safely out of it's own way...I can't imagine a truck being any better. If he retains the lean burn he won't be able to jet up anyway especially with the timing locked in.

That being said, that would be for gasoline...you could probably go 3-4 jet sizes bigger over that if E85 was on the menu...I'm sure with E15-20...+1 size might be in order.
