My Aunt just told me she's got the stuff taken care of with probate, so now hopefully we'll be able to get the '67 Dart over to my house to work on it this week. I've been wanting to post some pictures up, so here is how it sits right now in the shed behind her house - definitely BEFORE shots!:

The wheel covers cleaned up and waxed up GREAT (especially once I knocked the dirt dauber nest off the rear driver's side cover). It hopefully will clean up nicely after washing and waxing.

Now I'm in the process of tracking down tires to replace the 175/80R13 Sears RoadHandlers that have been on it literally 20 years (and only have about 19,000 miles on them) or to track down 14" wheels and covers to go on it.

My Aunt parked it about 4 years ago when she got Alzheimer's so bad that she moved in with my other Aunt to live until she died several weeks ago. Now my Daddy and I hope to work on it to get it up and going soon. Should be fun!

Thanks to all of you guys that have given me input so far on it. I'll be asking a lot of dumb questions in the near future, so I sure appreciate all of your help.

The '64 Valiant Convertible in my signature below is one that I worked on from 1996 to about 1998 and sold to a guy that drove up from Alabama to buy it from me. It was a 225 3-speed manual that was a LOT of fun!

Thanks, Rob! We are so ready to get started on it, and I'm excited to work on it. Now if I can find tires and/or wheels and tires for the thing... I had no idea it would be that hard to find 13" tires anymore.

My first car out of college was a '66 Valiant 273 that I added an aftermarket cruise control to and had a jammin' stereo in. Hitting ACCEL on the cruise control would make your neck snap!

I too had a 1967 270 hardtop Dart, three on the tree, 13 inch skins, with a 273 V8 as a first car. Now I have a 67 GT Convertible, with disk brakes, /6 with all the go fast stuff including S Cuda like HD suspension.

Your Aunt’s car looks as if it just needs a good scrubbing, and probably suspension & brake work to be a real nice daily driver. Enjoy the ride.

Bill

It IS in GREAT shape to be as old as it is! Aunt Mary literally only drove it once during the week to the grocery store. She didn't have to drive it to church - she lived right beside her church, so the store was usually her only trip for several years!

Looks like we may get to have it towed today, so hopefully this Saturday will be filled with Dart work.

NICE '67 convertible, Bill! I'd like to find something like that to work on. Maybe that can be the next project when we start showing this one.

...and I learned how to drive in a pushbutton '64 Dart 4 door, much like the picture of the '63 there. I wouldn't mind finding another pushbutton convertible somewhere.

Thanks Barry,

“Work on itâ€￾ is the operative phrase with that car. I’ve had just about everything apart on it except the mufflers, and engine block. Mufflers are next on the list; currently way too noisy.

Yeah, a lot of folks have upgraded to 14s or even 15s over the years. I would think you'd be able to find 13" tires for those rims still though.
http://www.summitracing.com/search/Part ... s=Rank|Asc

I was going to get these (probably the 185 series) before I went more hot rod and got Cragars. Definitely cheaper to go this route than to get new rims. The whitewalls would really keep in line with a sleeper.

Nice car!

Great link - I thought I'd gone to Summit to check their tires out the other day, but obviously I missed the Firestones. $300.75 or so shipped... thanks for the info! I'm going to call around here some today to see what I can find out, too, but I sure appreciate this link and any more anybody else has.

Here are some pictures from the fun yesterday - we were able to tow the Dart to my house so I could do a preliminary wash on it. It was pretty nasty, but obviously just doing a quick wash job on it made it look GREAT.

We're going to need a windshield washer reservoir tank - looks like the mice ate the top corners out of it, so if anybody knows where I can get one inexpensively, let me know. It was sure fun washing it and seeing that good paint shine through!
