There was one at Las Vegas my dad took a picture of "The World's Fastest Slant Six"

Any information on that one? It looked fairly basic, nice headers, intake, and such.
That was Wilford Day and the replica he built of one of his LSR cars that campaigned at Bonneville.

He's on here someplace! Great guy to talk to!

Hi polkat, you asked for the strongest naturally aspirated engine, which means no forced induction and that definitely means no blowers of any kind, and I guess it also implies no alky fuel or funny gas, and that eliminates many of the suggestions in previous posts.

This engine was dyno run, and even though the figures may be beleived, the price of the build is probably outrageous: moparmusclemagazine's 320 hp build

Some interesting old articles from another SL6 site 'down under': Ern Abbots 330 hp build

Olaf.

Anything with 300+ hp on a slant is a pretty radical build- especially if it's naturally aspirated.

Olaf, thanks for providing the link to the story about Ern Abbot's Valiant. Sort of like Tilley's but way back to the beginning of Slant Six History. Those 58MM side drafts are awesome, never knew they made Webers that big. Those were indeed the good old days.

That engine was one of our members here. I wonder if Romeo ever ran it in a car? Hopefully he will chime in.

Yes he has. I've seen it run at Vegas. IIRC, it has been in the 12's in really good air.

I want, I want, I want. Any reason why they chose that intake, ya think? Just for the bosses, maybe. A hyper pak intake would look so cherry on that mule. Did that article ever mention what octane swill they were running? I imagine it's race juice w/ that compression, but I wonder how E85 would have compared, no? I've got a spare kidney, lung, some liver, and since they're pretty much for decoration at this point, two testicles I'd be willing to trade for that pretty little filly. Woo-wee I bet that dog can hunt. Sure would have liked some close-ups of that head. . .

It would be fun to know what the fastest /6's are running a 1bbl,2bbl or 4bbl in naturally aspirated form. I've been 11.80's in the 1/8 with a 1bbl stocker.

The thread was interesting. Thanks. I ran 19.2 and was wondering how that was in the realm of things (besides slow). Stock 1 bbl., aluminum block, 904 auto, convertible. I have a tiny single exhaust but a 3.23 7 1/4 rear. Seems as though I'm in good company:

"19.21 @ 70 Doc, 65 Dart GT Convertible, stock alm block 225 ,1bbl
Carter, Dutra dual exhaust, 904 auto. trans., 2.94 8 3/4 rearend
. "
