hi everyone. I will be rebuilding the 225 in my 1967 dodge d100 truck but don't know the correct colors to paint the engine components. does anyone out there know what colors to paint the intake, valve cover, air cleaner, exhaust manifold?

You are right around the time they changed colors-from red to blue. And the exhaust manifold was bare/natural no paint.

Hold it, folks. He's got a truck, not a car, number one. That means the engine should be yellow, not red or blue.

And the switch to Chrysler Blue for engines was for 1970. See this post and this one for more detail.

thanks for the link to the threads on paint color. my truck is a bonafide 67000 mile original and the motor is a light pastel green hue, from what is left anyway. any suggestions on what the original hue was or what to use to match it? is the address you posted and fee still correct for build sheet copies?

Not to Thread jack, but the engine in my truck is all black, that first thread says it's supposed to be blue, the second one says it's supposed to be yellow (the block that is) but my entire engine is black.

Ross- your truck is an 82, that is why it is black. I believe in beginning in 81 with the change to hydraulic lifters all slant sixes were painted black from the factory, even though v-8s continued to be blue.

I have seen three 1983 Dodge van motors that were black, one is on a stand in my garage right now.
