What specifically are you referring to?

It you're talking about a radiator cooling fan, it's a replacement for the belt driven fan mounted on the water pump. Some cars and trucks come from the factory with electric fans. Some come with belt driven fans. All the old slants came with belt driven fans. A belt driven fan can usually be replaced with an electric.

If you are thinking about replacing your fan with an electric version, check your clearances carefully. I have yet to find one that will fit on my '64 Valiant.
