I did the HEI swap this evening , but did not have time to do the 2 barrel install. It actually runs better just with the HEI alone. The truck is an 85 with the fender mounted lean burn. My question is this. Where is a good place to pick up vacuum for the distributor? All the carb connections are full vacuum at idle except 1 and I get no reading out of it. The EGR line has nothing coming to it either. I just want to run it till the weekend and then I can put the 2 barrel on. If nothing else I can run it without the vacuum advance.

I got a carb off an 85 for my 82 the Holley 1945's for each are different. Mine had leanburn but the carb also had a ported spark tube for the dizzy. The 85 carb does not. So simple answer, there is no where on that carb for vaccum advance. I had to swap throttle bodies from the 85 to my 82 (throttle shaft leak), I had the vaccum hooked up but timing was always advanced and it backfired nonstop at idle. Took the vac advance off and it runs better, but no advance period. It'll drive fine without advance, at least mine does

Ok Thanks,

I'll just run it as is until the weekend.
