Hello all,

Which one of the the three manifolds above will be best for max power through the lights in the 1/4 mile?

The HyperPak and Aussiespeed appear to be very similar in appearance, with the Aussiespeed having the edge in availability, although the person that emailed me back at Clifford said they are ready to do a run of Hyperpaks.

Does the M1 have equal length runners? I have yet to see one in person, but note that it is an option. I'm trying to avoid making a sheet metal intake, and am wondering if it's worth looking for?

Application is 225 in a Front Engine Dragster-approx 100" wheelbase, A904 with an 8 3/4 rear.

Any advice, insight would be awesome, I'm just throwing ideas together, no definate plan yet, except for 225/auto/4bbl.

Thanks!
JK

Be very careful when dealing with Clifford. I have watched their site and talked to them on and off for about two years concerning their H-Pak. I have gotten several "stories" and a few "fibs" during this time.

The last time I called they had 9 of 15 orders to make a run of new intakes. I was also told that unless more orders came in soon they were going to forget the whole thing!!!

Do your research use the search button. Engine build matrix is very helpful along with the articles section. Front engine dragster is one of my fantasies. Good luck!

The M1 is a 2v manifold. It is basically the cast iron Super Six manifold in aluminum.

i don't have a comparison of the 3 intakes. i can tell you that with the long 4 barrel hurricane and big bore headers my car went from 9.2 to 8.8 in the eighth. i didn't experience a bog in my applciation with the hurricane. check out the

and listen for a bog, there isn't any.

Most racers use the Clifford "regular" 4bbl intake, and say that makes the most top end power. At this point, I agree, after testing ~10 different intakes over the last 22 yrs. It is also easier to use than the other choices you mentioned, although not as cool looking.

I have an aussiespeed 4bbl short runner that I plan to test later this year...

the problem with the aussie speed stuff as mark found out is they dont have enough plenum volume or runner size...

they are even to restrictive for a hot street motor IMO...

now the manifold im working on wont have either issues....

i am a big block mopar guy . this is my first experience with the slant 6 so i don't have enough knowledge on plenum volume and runner sizes for these motors. i just know this thing pulls hard right to 6000 rpm, is super repsonsive, crisp and consistent, which for bracket racing which is most important thing. i have spoken to jim dowell at racer brown cams about grinding me a new cam, so the plan is to leave everything alone and do a cam swap and see what happens. i wanted to get rid of the slant when i first bought the car but the little motor has got me hooked.

11sails,

Glad to hear about your successes. I really like my Aus man, and I don't think they are fully tested yet. I feel like it is holding my motor back at high RPM, although that needs more testing. I have to say the throttle reponse has been the best of any intake I have yet tried.

Lou

This motor should pull hard above 6000, but starts to fall off around 5500. Redline (bottom end parts limited) is 6000-6200.

Best is 13.74 @ 95 and 8.67 in 1/8th.

Lou

i'd be happy if i could get my car to go 8.6. how heavy is your car? at what point is the cylinder head the restriction? my head has oversize valves and has been ported as much as it can.

Car is pretty light ("Project V") - 2650 on the starting line. Head could be ported more and has 1.70/1.44 valves.

I think the Clifford intake will give you the most top end power. I would not overthink manifold choices to much because I'd say they are pretty equal to a point. Most of the racers will say the Clifford has the advantage on the high end though..

I have seen all kinds of intake's on /6's that were running good numbers. Including home made ones...

Lou, have you ever tested a Weiand? I would guess that it is very similar to the Offy intake.

I really liked the Offy intake as it was a great street manifold...
