I'm gonna have a local shop knock out the old cam bearings and put my new ones in. I believe I have everything from bearings to gaskets to oil pump. I was wondering if there is a good book or write up to put one of these these back together. I've done ance's and aircooled vws. First slant though, just thought it would be nice to have a nice set of guide lines to work by. If not I'm sure its not as tedious as a vw, and more straight forward thanks

Try the factory service manual. The manual for just about any year slant six powered vehicle should work for reassembly instructions, so long as you stay within the solid lifter/hydraulic lifter families.

Read thru some of the engine assembly messages already posted and also review the articles listed off the home page of this site.

What Doc said. If you want to track down a factory service manual, try the reference section at your local library.

My only sugestion is to trash the new old pump (most have soft drive gears). You might be able to get a hardened gear from "Doc" and get it put on the new pump.
