Well ever since I put the Holley 1945 back on it's been hard to start warm, today after I got off my lunch break it smelled very strongly of gas. Looked around and didn't see any dripping fuel, popped the hood and heard this faint bubbling noise, thought it was the radiator, put my ear closer to the carb and it was coming from the carb that certainly explains the hard warm starts. I looked at the heat riser valve, seems it doesn't close all the way, where can I get another one of those springs? And is there anything else I should look at?

Fuel line mod and heat shield part number 5214 558 and correct thick insulator gasket between carb and intake.

If you can't find the one Dan lists, I found that a simple one will work. Mine is made from the .060 stock sheet size from a K&S Supply rack from your local hobby shop or hardware store will do. You need to buy two gaskets which also helps to keep out the heat. The aluminum acts as a heat shield and and a heat sync to wick away any heat.

The fuel line mod keeps from preheating the fuel. You can see how mine comes from the fuel water separator up and over the valve cover.

The bi-metal spring for the heat valve is more difficult to find, I have seen rebuild kits on ebay (have no idea if it's crap or not).
