Just want to run this by you.

This is the carb I was going to buy

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HLY-0-7448/

I've been told by a few people the 7448 # is the 350 holley that will work best on a 225 slant.

What I have done to the engine,
new elec ignition, headders, bigger coil, heads been ported and polished.

If anyone has any info please tell me, otherwise I will purchase it within two days.

Thanks!

I tried the 500 cfm Holley. The car ran well with it.

(Doc's smaller Erson cam, big valves and a mild bowl and port work by Doc, Head cut .080, Dutra Duals, Recurved Mopar Electronic Ignition dizzy with Crane 300+ ignition & coil, Super six intake with carb flange openned up to the oval size that matches bottom side of the small 2bbl-to-Holley carb adaptor. Auto trans w/ 2.97 gears.)

It ran great in the mid-range and top end, but you had to modulate the throttle with care below mid-range. It wouldn't bog ever, but by choosing the throttle position wisely, it ran stronger. I was bugging Doc about getting the next larger cam and looser converter, but he helped me change my mind. The 500cfm Holley is just too big for my mods and gear ratio.

I placed stainless steel sheetmetal between the exhast and the intake to block off most of the heat, and have a manual choke.

I took that carb off and went with the 350cfm Holley from Summit. It's the perfect size. Better milage, off-idle torque is stronger, and it pulls almost as hard at the bigger Holley up top. The stock converter and trans are perfectly matched to the carb and engine mods now.

The Holley manual choke works excellent, the factory Super Six kick-down linkage fits great and I highly recommend this carb set-up over any other type of 2bbl for mildly modified engines using Super Six set-ups.

Thanks I'm glad to hear that I ended up buying the same carb with a warranty from a dealer further south in Australia.

I haven't put a heat riser to the manifold (I need to do this, Slant Six Dan details why its so important) and I like your idea of the Sheet Metal as well.
