So the other day I had the thermostat housing off to put in a new thermostat. Looking into the hole, there's this piece of wire, little thinner than a coathanger, bent at 90 degrees, running along the tops of the exhaust ports. I wiggled it, it's totally loose. What is this, why is it there, what does it do, how did it get there, and should I remove it?

 It's wire used to hold part of the casting when the head was cast. Just pull it out (helps kep the rust down) it doesn't do anything any more.

It is leftovers from the casting process, just yank it out and throw it.

It is a secret fuel booster installed in only factory test vehicles. Most were removed and destroyed by oil company operatives working for all the auto manufacturers, but a few made it out the back door.

And if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you in Utah.

It's an alien implant, for tracking purposes.
You don't think the aliens were only interested in people, do you?
