Hey everyone I have a 1975 dodge dart swinger and when i shut off the engine the car is dieseling here and there but not every time. I was wondering what could be the cause and what to diagnose so I can fix the problem. Thanks for all your guys help.

Check your idle speed and timing. Timing that is too advanced or an idle speed that is too high will cause this. Also if your choke is engaged and you shut it off, it can do the same thing since it's idling at higher speeds than normal.

Ya I think my idle speed is up a little high and I'm sure I'm running a little richer then I'd like to be. But I'm not very skilled at adjusting them I have all the books but do you have any tips on setting them? I might need to pickup a light gun so I can check the timing any thoughts on a good priced one? Also I was told it could be from my engine getting to hot but the temp gage seems to say its fine and it does not do it all the time. Thanks for the replay!
