Are the 'cups' on my strut rod installed the right way? It seems that i've seen them installed both ways on Mopars

Cup should be toward the rubber to spread the load across the face of the bushing...as it sits now it will put most of the force in the middle stressing that section of the bushing.

Flip it around and it will be good to go.

Crap...DI what about the inside bushings? Those have the cup facing away too. Would those also need to be flipped? Getting the strut rod out again is a major pain!

Sorry man same deal with the otherside You need to pull them out and flip the washers.

Almost looks like MOOG problem solver washers with stock type bushings. MOOGs go the way you have them on there, but stockers flip, as DI said.

I just took the front cup off, it says "this side towards bushing" with part number 7132 stamped on the cup as well (not sure what brand) on the way they are currently installed...so according to the stamped marking cup OUT is the correct way.

Does this make sense? False stamp? Which way should I do it? The factory way or this way? Thanks guys.

EDIT: also they are the 2 piece rubber bushings

The Moog after-market strut rod bushings are larger, 2 piece units and the washers are installed with the cup "out" on those.

Thanks Doc but i'm not sure these are Moog brand. What I can say is I noticed there is a metal sleeve between these 2 rubber bushings. I have tightened the nut down to the sleeve all the way but it's not 'deep' enough so I can't put in a cotter pin. I'm asuming these are the later year '73-'76? two piece rubber bushings with sleeve, this being 'too long' to use a cotter pin on my '71 dart a-body? Is that correct?

I've never seen a tapered self locking nut on a cotter-pin strut rod. Those parts do look like (correctly installed) aftermarket replacements.
