Hello, motor is going to the machine shop tomorrow and I would like to freshen up my A903. It shifted nicely (a little loose but that is due to linkage I believe)

I found a rebuild kit for it and its within my price range, however I cannot find any info on the process of rebuilding. Any info is greatly appreciated.

:D

This is the manual that used to be on this site, but the server that it was on is no longer.

http://www.bulkpart.com/transmission-repair-manual.html

This will get you to where you can get your own book.

Sorry I thought you were asking for 904, the 903 is a manual trans.

I was able to find my old service manual, it gives steps to rebuild it however it goes over it as if ive done this a few times. Anyone gone through the 903? Is it difficult or worth the extra $$ to have a shop freshen it up?

Personally, I do not think those 3-speeds are worth putting money into...
I would do a quick flush, fix any leaks and just run it until it needs replacing... then swap to a better trans.

With the trans being tired wont a brand new motor blow it up fairly quickly? I love the column shift, so swapping a 4 speed is outta the question not to mention the $$ involved in doing a big swap.

Is there any other 3 speeds that will work with my column shift and be a better option than the A903? I also worry that I wont be able to run my new motor how I want too on a tired tranny.

An A230 would be a stronger unit and those have a synconized 1st gear.
