Does anyone know where I can get a choke coil for a 78 super six? I was quoted $68 plus shipping. I found 2 on ebay for $30 but they fit one barrels. Can one of these be made to work? Thanks for any help. Adam
PS. I was told I would have to order one to see if they could get one. ???

An electric choke may be the answer. Take a look at the links to carburetor info that is listed in the 'sticky' Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) in the 'engine' section.

The 1bbl choke won't work. As has already been recommended, the Electric choke kit (#1232 for your application) is the most cost-effective way forward.

I'm sure they work great but I'm having trouble giving $60 (with shipping) for a choke kit when I only gave $5 for the carb! :?

Average them out and you paid only $32.50 for the carb and for the choke, a very good deal.

This is not 1966. Things cost more money now than they used to. Your option is to continue to drive a car that doesn't work right. *shrug*

Yeah Rick, it kills when you get a bargain but have to spend up to make it work - I'm with you.
Good point that Dan makes - the '66 prices are long gone and we are now in a different world .... Is that good????? MMMMMMMM?

You could always try a manual choke.

On this site when you see a bit of text that is red, that means that that text is actually a hyperlink to another portion of the internet. In this case, the "HERE" text in my post and the "Electric choke kit" text in SlantSixDan's post both link to the same place- a thread on this board discussing the details of the electric choke kit conversion. In that other thread there are details of where to order the conversion kit.

The kit I posted pictures of was installed on my brother's 1983 Dodge van. I have been messing with slant sixes for about 16 years now and have done more two barrel conversions than I can remember. I have to say that the CarbsOnly choke conversion kit is the best choke option have encountered for slant six powered vehicles. It is simple, it works, and it is adjustable. It is well worth the money. I installed one on my brother's van since (a) I couldn't source a new two barrel choke locally and (b) the cost to order this in was only slightly more than ordering the factory inferior designed choke.

You get what you pay for, and this choke conversion kit is worth the money.
