I saw an article on the new BMW K1600GT motorcycle and it has a 1.6L 22 inch long in-line slant 6 engine. Interesting but expensive.

158 HP@7500 RPM 129 lb.ft. @5000 RPM

The slant 6 lives on.

BMW has some pretty crazy high winding slant six designs for their cars as well. Just not quite that crazy. I'm a BMW fan as well as a Mopar fan - I sometimes joke that my '97 328 was the closest thing I could buy to a late model Valiant. 106" wheelbase, about 170 cubic inches of slant six under the hood... it makes you wonder what might have happened if Chrysler had kept updating their designs.

I used to own a '68 BMW R-50US (500cc, horizontally-opposed twin): not a lot of low-end grunt, but what a great, long-distance cruiser! That's what Beemers were known for back then. They've since enhanced performance levels of their bikes significantly.

My wife currently drives a 330i: fun ride which has required virtually no repairs in 85K miles, just routine maintenance. Good thing, since factory parts for it sure ain't cheap...
