Anyone ever split a slant manifold themselves? I know about the Dutra setup. I'm talking totally homegrown. I know this is somewhat popular with "other" inline engines but I haven't found anything on a slant.

i did it ,i cut two manifold to make two halfs. i cut and welded the two head pipe flanges to the three port sections, the front was welded in the center of the three and the rear one i welded it next to the first of the three (cyl # 4) so it would be in front of the starter. then i used the round pieces cut from the scraps to fill the end to make it smooth on the ends. i used a dc arc welder with 7018 rods, pre-heat all section with propane torch and use the same to slow cool the welds.don`t let the cooling metal make any cracking or tinging noices!!

Do you have any pictures of the process? I have a badly broken manifold (whole outlet and heat box broken right off) I was going to experiment on. I was thinking of fabbing my own outlets.
