I'll post more later. Too tired to think clearly right now. Here's an excerpt from the Clay City Thread:

I'm beat, so this will be the quick rundown. I'll fill in more details later.

BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front ): The Travelling Trophy will be heading back West this year.

Saturday:

Round 1:

Ron Hamby - Bye

Lukus Bruner - Norm Foster = Lukus

Rodney Hargis - Larry Chesney = Larry

Meril Bruner - Bob Rogers = Bob

Ryan Covalt - Courtney Bruner = Ryan

Round 2:

Ron Hamby - Lukus Bruner = Ron

Larry Chesney - Bye

Bob Rogers - Ryan Covalt = Ryan

Round 3:

Ron Hamby - Broke

Ryan Covalt - Larry Chesney = Ryan

Sunday:

Round 1:

Greg Ondayko - Bye

Lukus Bruner - Norm Foster = Lukus

Rodney Hargis - Larry Chesney = Larry

Meril Bruner - Lou Madsen = Meril

Ryan Covalt - Courtney Bruner = Ryan

Round 2:

Greg Ondayko - Lukus Bruner = Greg

Larry Chesney - Bye

Meril Bruner - Ryan Covalt = Meril

Round 3:

Greg Ondayko - Larry Chesney = Greg

Meril Bruner - Bye

Round 4:

Greg Ondayko - Meril Bruner = Meril

We let the track do the ladder. They did a Sportsman Ladder. I won't do it again...

It was COLD and overcast all day Saturday.

Sunday was cool and clear.

I won't steal Greg's surprise on his ETs...

Surprise of the weekend was the Myers Family showing up just to visit with everyone! Charles, Jenny, Charles Jr. and Chris made the 9 hour drive just to be there with us for the day.

Ron Hamby came up with a great idea to have a Slant 6 Racer Reunion / Banquet this year!

Look for more information in a separate post soon.

We had another two racers added to our ranks at Clay City bringing us up to an even 70 racers this year. Norm Foster thrashed to get his grandson Logan's Skamp together and long time Clay City promoter Bob Rogers finished up his beautiful '68 Valiant and raced with us for the first time! :D

We're tied up on the Rookie count between East and West with eight apiece. Killer Bees have come up with more racers this year with 40 to the East Coast's 30.

Here are the answers to last week's questions:

Will enough racers show up to make Clay City a 50 point race both days? It'll take 17 cars to make it happen and the Roll Call isn't quite there yet...
Not even close. We had 9 cars both days for 40 point races.

Will Rodney Hargis repeat his showing at Bristol and make it a clean sweep in his Run for the Championship? No. Larry Chesney had Rodney's number both days.

Will Gary Bruner be able to overcome his "Red Light Blues" and win enough rounds to stay in contention? Nope. He let his daughter Courtney race his survivor '64 Valiant in her bid for Rookie of the Year.

Will Ron Hamby "Bring It On" and make it Championship #4!? He broke going into Round 3 on Saturday and was unable to race on Sunday, so he finished up the year with just 6 races and 106 points for his Top 4 races. He gave up 10 points from the Bristol Race.

Lou Madsen has been judicious in his points keeping (leaving 20 points on the table at Bristol). Will his calculations pay off and give him the chance at a Championship? He was travelling overseas for work just before the race and only made it to Sunday. He finished up the year with just 6 races as well and a total of 76 points.

So, my educated and highly experienced prediction is that our Slant 6 Drag Racing National Champion for 2011 will be a member of the Killer Bees Racing Team.

Best of luck to the racers at Redding this coming weekend! We'll be anxiously awaiting the results and packing up the trophy for the trip out West.

Now that we know the Travelling Trophy will be going back out West this year, let's look at our Top 5 Killer Bees to see who YOU think will be our 2011 National Champion! :D

Here's where the Top 5 Killer Bees sit for points going into Redding this weekend:

They're all set with 5 or 6 races so far, leaving Redding open to add more points. They will all get the 1 attendance point for all of their races. This has been a good tie-breaker so far. That 1 point could make the difference in crowning the 2011 Champion!
(Richard and Andrew could be sweatin’ that one point as they win rounds at Redding…)

Wendy = 6 races (11, 1, 41, 1, 31, 41). She's won rounds at 4 races with her lowest being 11. She can replace that 11 point race with the points from Redding if she wins more than 1 round. The 10 points she replaces will be considered the "Over 4" that can be a little confusing at times.

Richard = 5 races (21, 21, 41, 1, 31). He has also won rounds at 4 races. If he wins 3 rounds or more he can replace one of those 21 point races. The 20 points he replaces (with 30 or more) will be "Over 4".

Andrew = 5 races (1, 1, 51, 11, 41). He has only won rounds at 3 races, so whatever he wins at Redding will simply be his 4th and final race to add points.

PJ = 6 races (31, 31, 31, 1, 1, 1). She waived points at Sacramento, so she officially has 6 races so far. She’s won rounds at 3 of those races so, just like Andrew, Redding will be her 4th and final race to add points.

Ceej = 6 races (41, 11, 1, 11, 1, 11). He has won rounds at 4 of his 6 races, so he can replace one of those 11 point races if he wins more than one round. The 10 points he replaces will be that "Over 4" schtuff...

Wendy Pine - 126
Richard Bjerklund - 115
Andrew Howard - 105
PJ Jesiolowski - 96
CJ Stoakes - 76

4 of the Top 5 are on the "Redding Roll Call" right now. I don't see Andrew added to the list yet. It looks like they are flirting with the potential to have a 50 point race with the car count hovering around the 16 to 17 mark. It takes 17 cars to make it a 50 point race...

Best of luck to the racers at Redding this coming weekend! We'll be anxiously awaiting the results and packing up the trophy for the trip out West.

Redding Reports are in and for the first time in Slant 6 Racing History we not only have a Lady Champion, but our Runner Up is also a Lady Racer!! :D

Even though Wendy Pine went out first round, her winning ways this year were enough to win her the Championship!

PJ Jesiolowski was "Chasin' the Dream" this year and went two rounds at this last race of the year to try and grab the Championship, but she needed that third round to tie Wendy with 127 points. She came in as Runner Up with 117.

Richard also went out first round to end the season with 116 points for third.

Fourth place in National points goes back East to Ron Hamby with 106.

Andrew Howard did not make it to Redding, so finishes up the season at fifth with 105.

Last year's Champion, Meril Bruner, came in at sixth and will reluctantly give up the Travelling Trophy to send it back West for Wendy.

I'll update the rest of the overall roster soon.

Congratulations to all racers this year! What a great year of Slant 6 Drag Racing!! :D

Final points for the 2011 Slant 6 Drag Racing season are now tallied! :D

What a great year of racing! With Sergio Gonzales being able to make the race at Redding we've increased our total number of racers this year to 71.

The Rookie count was tied up with eight new faces showing up to race on each side of the Mississippi for a total of 16 new racers added to our "Slanted Family" for 2011. A big "Thank You" to everyone who invited (or cajoled  ) a new person to come out and "Run with the Slants"! :D

For the first time in our series history we have a Lady Racer as our National Champion!! :D Not only that, but our Runner Up is also a Lady Racer! Congratulations to both of them! :D

Wendy Pine showed up at Redding knowing that three of her fellow Killer Bees had their stingers pointed squarely at her in their bid for the National Championship.

Wendy and two of her closest competitors were put on the trailer in the first round, so it was up to PJ Jesiolowski in her beautiful Dodge Demon to see if she could win enough rounds to take it away from Wendy at the final race of the season.

PJ would have to take home all the marbles and win the race at Redding to be crowned the 2011 Champion. She was well on her way (and I'm sure Wendy was watching closely from the stands) as she took out Wayne Erickson and Dana Prater to win the first two rounds...

Then it was Mark Murray who was able to stop PJ and go on to a Runner Up finish at Redding behind event winner Aric Erickson.

It was an exciting year as the races were held back and forth from the East to the West and back again.

It was the Killer Bees Race Team that landed the Top 3 spots this year with the East Coasters securing 6 of the Top 10 positions.

I'll make a trip to Maynardville, TN to arm wrestle last year's Champion, Meril Bruner, for the Travelling Trophy and get it ready for the trip out West.

Look for an update to the Slant 6 Drag Racing Series Career Points thread soon:
