i have a 84 b150 van with a 2 barrel and 727 ,how do i adjust the kickdown ???

With the throttle fully closed, loosen the nut on the kickdown lever on the transmission until the lever moves freely. Hold the lever all the way forward and the tighten the nut.

forward meaning towards the front ??

Yes. "Forward" means towards the front, or "fore", of the vehicle, not the rear. To the rear would be "rearward" or "aftward" or "aft." See the "throttle rod adjustment" procedure below.
