Can anybody tell me what size speaker goes in the dash of a '66 Dart? Need a new speaker, but don't want to pull it if I don't have to and couldn't find the info in the FSM.

My 64 had a 6x9......

But a modern big magnet 6x9 speaker wouldn't fit (too big of a magnet)

You might want one of these 2 for 1 brackets (a member here sells them) so it fits, and so you can get the 8 ohms resistance the older radios want.

I'm looking at the 6x9 offered by http://www.turnswitch.com/speakers.htm

Has anybody dealt with these guys? $40 for a decent (better than OEM) speaker that fits well without mods seems very reasonable.

Your old speaker can be re-cored, that is, a new paper cone installed by most automotive “old radio restoration shopsâ€￾. HMN.com will have a list of these under “Servicesâ€￾.

Two questions using twin speakers with original radio (65 Dart for me):
1) maximum speaker mounting depth to avoid wiper linkage, etc?
2) 4 ohm 4 inch speakers wired in series ok?
