For what its worth, Kim (Passion4Mopars) does a fantastic job restoring our Mopar junk to better than new quality. Before she had jumped into this post I was going to recommend her for the rebuild.

I agree here, this repair is often workable for a Ford, Honda as well. You might have to file down a set of brushes from some other motor, but I'd bet the old motor can be good again.

When I serviced a '65 wiper motor in the club Barracuda, the FSM specified a lead-based grease I couldn't find, so I just used some GP bearing grease and it worked fine. I've opened up a number of Mopar wiper motors, but never found a source to replace the plastic "fork" used to engauge the switch when parking. Cleaning contacts, etc. was straight forward.

Kim, Do you repair variable speed wipers as well? The motor from my '62 Lancer has a shorted armature. Thx, Ray

For reference, that grease (Led-Plate, actually a lead-based anti-sieze compound) is important to prevent wear on the pivots and cams. You can get it under Briggs & Stratton part number 93963. Brush-top can. Works great wherever an anti-sieze compound is needed (but don't use it on oxygen sensors, for obvious reasons). If you don't want to buy the can from Briggs and Stratton, you can get a smaller tube of graphite-based anti-sieze at the parts store and it will work fine. Regular grease will work in the short run, but not in the long term.

For our club's cars, I've done a couple of 2sp/3sp wiper hybrids, where some of the parts came from a 2sp car and some from a 3sp. I just got the schematics of both, make a truth table for both, figured out the logic of the wiring and switches, then made a harness up that worked fine. It was far more work than just finding the right motor, and so I wouldn't do it that way again - I'd stick with whatever the harness was for and try to find the matching switch and motor.

I've found that there are differences over the years with motors that seemed identical on the outside, so be sure to test it before you put the wiper arms on. I've not found a source for the little park cams and switches that break inside the motors - perhaps somebody knows where to get them? Everything else inside the several motors I opened up seemed OK.
