Curious,..Has anyone dependably run turbo's in cold weather with little or no problems. -10 to -20 Celsius. I have modified 225 in my van with 4 on the floor, last stage of planning a turbo install. I've researched turbo application but unsure of cold weather effects as we have 5-6months of winter.....anyone?

Exhaust gases are hot... no matter how cold it is outside. The turbo will work. :wink:
Are you working with a "draw through" or "Blow thru" system?
Better yet, a dry system with EFI would not care much about the in-coming air temps... the turbo does a good job of warming the air as it goes thru and gets pressurized.

The cool part about winter and a turbo is you get to use regular fuel.

I would have to believe this is going to be like running anything else in those temperature extremes. Pay attention to lubrication and making sure the fuel is well atomized. I do not think I would do a draw through on gasoline in such a climate. The fuel puddling and cold starting could be awful.

I agree with Doc and Josh, don't build a draw-through. I've drove my blow-through set-up as cold as +10F with no problems. Don't use boost until the engine is warmed up.

I don't run any boost until it warms up. I agree on definitely blow through to avoid puddling.

I don't have any experience with turbochargers at all, BUT I go to breakfast every Saturday with about 5 or 6 guys who all have GN Buicks and all they talk about is how much performance their Buicks pick up when the weather turns cold... they say they become virtually undriveable with all the added torque...

Just sayin'.... :)

Thanx all,for the info...Going Blow thru,less problems I've discovered for what I want,which is a daily driver with a bit of ooomph and the ability to pass the tourists on the mountain highway hills,ha ha ha-Everyone confirmed what I figure, but nice to ask around for what not to do tips.
