Checked compression on motor in the Dart to see what was going on with #2 cylinder not firing. 5# on number 2 with 160# on all the rest, so pulled valve cover and found #2 intake pushrod out of place. After pulling push rod out found this.

I don't remember what brand they have been in since I built the motor.

That, my friend, is a Chev Trick. Roller cam SBC with the self aligning rockers do that fairly often. I have prolly had 10 of those over that last Kabillion miles. Easy fix .......

The Chevs also wear holes right through the rocker....something a slant is less likely to do.

<MEH>!

Josh they were Seal Power push rods.
Sandy this is not a roller cam engine and not a lot of spring pressure.

 I have never seen that, and very surprising that a sealed power product would defect like that,I have always seen them as good quality for my engine needs.

The roller sbc dont use a lot of spring pressure,,,,,its about something else.

Its prolly just defective manufacture.

I just replace and forget (not so difficult anymore)

Yes upon looking at the ball, it looks like it didn't get welded on real good and the valve lash let the push rod hammer on the ball till it split the hollow rod.

Seriously though....

I think the pushrod end manufacturing is suspect....thats where it starts on the sbc.....if they dont do what yours did , they abrade the stamped rocker till it pokes through the rocker. You lose a lot of lift and duration that way. No damge however. I drove 600 miles with an intake rocker like that in sept. ... .. ..

You will forget all about it 1 week after replacement.

You misspelled Chery, which itself is a deliberately misspelled camp-on of "Chevy", and it's not the only copycat game they play.
