My power steering pump is leaking out the front seal(behind the pulley). Are these difficult to fix or for that matter is it difficult to rebuild the entire pump? Are there things to watch out for or tricks to it or just kinda straight forward? Thanks in advance, dennis

Get a price of seal kit should be around $20 and a price of a rebuilt pump may be $80-$100 not sure if a 1966 pump has a pressed on pulley if it is you will need a pulley puller & installer once the pulley is off its a matter of disassembling the pump & installing seal kit instructions came with the kit I got from dorman mine was the newer style saginaw pump

When my '71 Saginaw pump suddenly blew its seal, I found the repairing it was easier than rebuiding a carb. My only problem I was that the hardline's nut was rusted solid and I had to replace the lines. You'll need the special puller (Harbor Freight sells them) and you ought to carefully read the small print on the back of the instruction sheet about mid-production O-ring changes. Also, my return line is 11/32", not 3/4", so beware of sloppy parts counter guys handing you whatever is laying about.

Thanks for the input! I've rebuilt carbs, distros, alternators and complete engines but never had the joy of a power steering pump so my thought is "if you aren't sure, ask questions!" I appreciate everything. Dennis
