I left 4 messages on Pertronix's tech line for their recommendation, and they did not call me back after the first failed attempt on their part. I will not buy their product if they cannot be contacted reliably, or even at all.

For what it is worth. MSD lists the Blaster II as a compatible coil with their HEI module. The speed shop said it was good as well, so I should relax and drive the car.


I had an old Mopar friend years ago who responded when asked if it was OK to run the electronic ignition without the ballast resister, "It would be pretty much a race as to which would fail first;the module or the coil". Your story confirms his comment.

I finally got through to the Pertronix tech department. The word is the Second strike ignition system will not work with EFI. It raises cane with the ECU signal, and throws everything off. It is good for carbs only. So there you are.

That is hilarious - ugh.

MSD 6AL if want to use MSII control, or MSD 6AL-2 with it's own programmable timing control. MSII will be more flexible for sure in timing control.
