Stock valves have 3/8" stems. Where on the valve did you measure and what measuring device did you use?

If you are reworking a stock head, order valve stem seals by application and not by size.

Measure just below the keeper notches, might be the valve stems are worn.

The stems are parallel all the way down with in 2 thou, are you sure stock valves are 3/8th ? thats huge and the standard caps available seem to be 11/32 which is smaller"? RAY

Maybe your head has been rebuilt before, and the valve stems were worn and reground to the smaller diameter. You could try 3/8 Fel-pro stock type seals to see if they still fit snugly. If you have stock S/6 springs, order them for the S/6, if you have performance springs, order them for a 1970s dodge 318 V-8. V-8 springs have thicker coils and a slightly smaller I.D. so the V-8 seals have a smaller O.D. for clearence.

Wow. A whole, entire thread — ten posts and counting — about buying valve stem seals.

I buy "pretty looking" blue colored ones (viton material) from thisebag seller
There are many shapes and types of valve stem seals out there.
