Hi,
I'm considering doing the mad electrical amp gauge bypass - just checking to see what others think about it.

Thanks,

I very heartily unrecommend the ignorant babble you can read at the MadElectrical site. You don't have to choose either having an ammeter or having a reliable electrical system. And no, I'm not talking about the hack-azz/half-baked "solutions" offered at the (Chevy-head) MadElectrical site. Less-ignorant upgrade solutions are discussed here and here . Or, you can do a stealth voltmeter conversion yourself; see here for several examples.

If you're buying rather than doing it yourself, I much prefer the clean and technically correct ideas and components from Dashworx (formerly R/T Engineering). They can rework stock ammeters to handle up to 70 amps efficiently, and they can convert stock ammeters into voltmeters (complete with a new gauge face that looks like factory equipment). They actually have intelligent people who actually answer the phone (and who actually own Mopars, and who actually know what the he|| theyre talking about when it comes to Mopar charging systems...none of which can be said of the Mad electrical people). Their website is not worth hassling with; call them directly at 1-479-756-2757 or 1-479-966-6243.

Last time I got with them, they had upgraded ammeters for sale on the shelf for models including my '73 Dart, either with good used/cleaned-up faces or with newly-restored/reprinted faces. $75 or $99, respectively. I bought one of the good used ones and it is perfectly nice.

thanks for the info.

I had been looking for ways to just make a tighter connection on my red wire with the fusible link that plugs into the bulkhead...I've noticed it's a little loose and a couple of times I've had to wiggle the wire in order for the car to fire up - any suggestions for a good fix for this?
