after initially degreeing the cam, installed the pistons ...
careful to lube the bearings ...keep things clean...
had not got to torquing the rod bolts..
figured I could improve on the cam position, and also figured if I remove the 2 to 6 pistons assemblies it would be easier turning the crank ..
all looked ok,, but one rod bearing,, that one is scored the entire diameter, checked the rod journal closer,, even though I had the 'heavy' cast crank polished, there is a burr right at the OD of the journal oil port hole...really did a number on the bearing.

I called King bearings , they are not going to sell one set of bearing halfs..
so what do I do? over 95% of the original bearing load area is present, especially if I split the scored set and use them in two upper sections,, if I had never taken it apart, I may have never known ( till maybe it failed) using something like this is against my nature,, but I am open to experience and ideas..
I have carefully filed the burr on the oil hole od..so its not going to get me again...

DT. there is a King Bearing sales rep in Carmel. maybe give him a call or email. i exchanged a few emails with him when i was getting my bearings. fast, friendly and helpful replies.

Run it. You now have a grooved rod bearing that will hold more oil.

the exact thing happened to me couple days ago, im trying to track down a .010 under sealed power bearing. I NEED TWO. the bastards that i got the crank from had 2 gouges on 2 of the rod journals. completely took the bearing down to copper. i took some 320 grit to take down the burrs. and now just hunting down those bearings, if i cant get ahold of them, ill just have to deal with 2 clevites at 15 a piece compared to 9.99 for sealed power

I remember dropping a main cap for the '64 Dart engine back in 1993 when I was assembling it, and a bolt put a gouge in the bearing. I just crocus clothed it flat and ran it. 50k, probably 1000 miles of road course use, and 100s of drag passes on that bearing and was fine when I pulled it...

Yeah, in all seriousness if you have any real roughness, then it might be best to find another bearing. If smooth/flat with just a groove, then you're probably OK.
