i thought going to a 2bbl would increase performance ?
i will give up the 2-5 mpg in fuel milage to gain 10 hp in performance.

You're not going to gain 10 h.p. by using an adapter.

Will the engine run? Yes. Will there be an appreciable improvement in power over a well-tuned 1bbl? No.

Either use a 2bbl intake manifold or build your own. Otherwise, it's a waste of time and money. But it's your time, and your money...

Having the 2bbl hole in the manifold (no adapter) allows more air/fuel mix to get in at an instantaneous point in time. If you have a 2bbl adapter on your 1bbl manifold at the same instantaneous point you will not be getting the same improved air/fuel mix you would in the previous scenario. It will essentially be the same as your 1bbl carb.

To adapt my manifold it cost me around $40 - I did buy a brand new 2bbl plate for my carb though you could save money on this. I bought some bolts, and an epoxy glue and a tap. Took one afternoon to get it perfect.

Hope this was of some help!

sorry for the confusion, i ended up buying a super six intake and a carter 2 barrel carb. combine those parts with my clifford headers and i am antisipating 10 hp gain. i am also pulling the motor to install a mild cam and have the head shaved.

My mistake. Headers and a super six will probably get you a lot more than 10 hp, but how much I'll defer to the experts... 20-25 maybe? Not to mention the cam and headwork... ;)

Good luck!

A 2v manifold with a BBD is supposedly worth a 5% increase in power. That same manifold with a 1 1/2" bore 2v is supposedly worth a 10% increase in HP. The size throttle bore covers the BBD from a BBM, a 2300 Holley and a 2100 Autolite.

Ive been in the proccess of making my own manifold (dan showed me the same article) i finally got a mounting plate, well actually a 1" carb spacer cnc'd out of aluminum I got off ebay very nice quality and itll serve as a mounting plate and a half inch spacer. Now if only I could find a welder to weld the dang thing id get better than 10mpg with my 1945 with bad throttle bushings  when the heck that will be idk.

I think you will have trouble wielding aluminum and cast iron? I'm not 100% sure just what I have read (May have that wrong).

If you get a packet of bolts, the appropriate tap, and some sort of heat proof epoxy glue. You'll pay less than $20 and it'll be very very strong, stronger than the weld I believe. Doesn't take long to do either.

When I bring the TIG back from Richard's, we can see if my buddy Nick will weld it up for you. I'm terrible with aluminum. Nick is not. We'll just get you to pitch in some cash for argon and filler.

Yeah, he's good for 2 moderate pieces of Bent-6 Tri-Tip then the restrictor plate goes on the intake...

Make sure you follow up with some ethanol injection in case he starts pinging...usually a porter or two keeps him from going into detonation...
