Need some parts help. I bought a damper(harmonic balancer) part #4071061 off ebay. It fits a 225 slant but looking at it, it is way different than the one on my car. Mine has 3 pulleys for air, ps, and alt as does the new one but the new one looks like it is on steroids compared to mine. Below is a link to one just like the one I bought. Should the new one fit my car(66 Valiant if you didn't know)?

SSDan, you bought one about the same time I believe(this was last year sometime) so you know the part I'm talking about.

Thanks in advance for any help. Dennis

BTW-If this won't work on my car, there will be a damper going up for sale here soon.

Thanks Ceej! That was a great thread. Now, if I understood it correctly. Yes the damper will fit and I will need to use a washer and bolt on it? Don't think I got an understanding of why but so be it.

Looked at my current setup more closely and the third pulley is bolted onto the balancer. My car is an automatic also.

I know the info is here somewhere and I tried to use the search function with no success but can someone tell me if mine would have a cast or forged crank?

It'll fit and work just fine -- you may need to use a later timing cover to make sure the timing mark lines up, or make a new mark on the damper to use with your existing timing tab.

Thanks again Dan. I have been gathering parts to do the damper and timing set at the same time while I have access to that area and trying to minimize problematic things I may run into. Dennis

A bolt and washer are needed to install the damper, but not to hold it in place. It is an interference fit on the crankshaft snout. After installing the damper you may leave or remove the bolt and washer, at your option.
