Cool Girdle / caps etc.

I hope with all those trick parts they are going to do some Oil Pocket porting / smoothing - It's a little hard to tell in these pics if that stuff has been done or not.

Any Idea On the weight of that crank?? I like the Hollowed out Connecting rod throws!

I like the girdle too. :D

I'm pretty sure I know where there is a billet crank laying around that could be bought.

A fully counterweighted billet crank like that for an inline 6 is going to be every bit of 100 pounds. I've seen them heavier for other engines so that isn't really out of the ordinary.

I think 3 of those are just block bracing.

Thanks for the ballpark figure.. Somehow I thought this might be lighter than a stock piece.. Maybe that is not the case.

Good god he must have a string tied to his wallet so it doesn't float away. I know mine would be to the moon by the end of this engine build!

This is pretty amazing! Howard is certainly impressing me with all this stuff. Sure hope that somewhere down the line we can get an in depth article on his completed engine.

We're keeping in touch and he's good at sharing information. He's wading in unchartered waters, so he is taking it slow and cautious. This is also his busiest season at work, so "Slant Time" is limited.

I was glad that he sent me these pictures to share as soon as he had it together. That says a lot. :D

I'll keep y'all updated as best as I can.

I'm Rob "Snagglepuss" Simmons, your Slant 6 "Laff-A-Lympics" commentator bringing you the latest from the "Hillside Six Skunkworks".
