I ran across an ad for a exhaust manifold that is correct for my 64 dart. I am not able to see it personally but I asked the seller if the flapper worked correctly and if the spring returned the valve back into position.

He replied that the flapper seemed pretty stiff and he didn't notice a spring.

I'm not sure if I should take a chance in the manifold ($45 plus shipping). I don't think I really need one but heard these are prone to cracking.

Used SL6 exhaust manifolds are a real "crap-shoot"... many are warped, cracked or have broken bolts or bad heat valves. $45 seens "steep" for an "unknown quality" manifold.

The best way to check a used SL6 exhaust manifold is to have it bolted to an intake manifold, then check to see if the assembled set goes onto a head, that has all the studs in place.

Thanks for the detailed advice DD! I've already purchased one on eBay that was junk so I hate throwing away any more money. I'll just keep going with the one I've got and not worry about a replacement until that time comes.

I'd say you "dodged" a bullet.

I paid $65 for one from someone here on the board. #6 runner was over 1/4' higher than the rest. Could have been, and probably was, found with a gasket placed on it. Never offered a refund. Just bulk wrap and excuses.

Buyer beware especially while you're a newby some idiot thinks will be gone in a week.

I have a new one that I bought last year. If you want it, $100 plus shipping from Phoenix. Chinese brand, never been installed.
