That's gonna be an early motor, '60-'63 timeframe, but need the engine ID stampings to narrow in further than that.

Then you probably have a 1960 block. Check the back of the water pump scroll area and also the side of the block near the frontmost or rearmost cylinders. And show us some photos!

It's an early 225. What specific information do you need?

I wanted to know what year it was manufactured and to be certain it's a 225.

I'd like to use this engine in my 68 D100 if I could. This engine was used at a local high school auto shop since the 70's and my son bought it 4 years ago for $50 from the school. He lost interest in the whole project and asked me about scrapping the engine & truck. Well we can't scrap either since the truck belonged to my Dad and has been in the family since 1974 ! I have renewed interest in fixing the truck up and have been slowly removing bits and pieces from it. I've been sand blasting and priming the bits and pieces and have a very good idea how it's going to look. The engine that's currently in the truck we drove in the ground so it's for parts only. Sorry for rambling on and thanks guys!

Yup, it's a 1960 225: no provisions for distributor-side alternator or generator bracket, turquoise paint, casting number as shown, no engine ID stamping pad where it was shown earlier in this thread, it's got an original '60-'63 type fuel pump, etc.

Numbers should be stamped on the back of the water pump scroll portion of the block.

Does your '68 have an automatic or a manual transmission?

Then yep, this engine will work in that truck.
