what do you guys think about the Crane Cams 99604-1 kit,, will this can be any more adjustable than a stock unit? I have never really messed with distributor mods,, but I believe that will be on the horizon for the D-150...
the kit also include springs and instructions...currently a few on e bay..

Did a search and couldn't find that number. Most of the numbers that were close were all for GM products. I have not seen any Crane Cams products for a SL6.

Where did you find it?

There is a complete listing in the Engine FAQ for the springs you need and vacuum cans. To recurve a distributor for a SL6 is very simple. Read the last page of the four page .jpeg Doc submitted. Get and advance timing light, paper and pencil to document changes at least every 500 rpm before and after......

Looks like Doc made a recommendation for that can/number for EI distributors back in 2001 on the board, I think it's a discontinued product (hence e-bay finds).

Now oddly the can's arm is stamped with an 11R, so it's a long sweep can...It also bears the inkstamp on the mounting lip as AH-8...

SMP cans have had the following Inkstamps compared to part numbers:

AH-6 VC-184 1973-74-8.5R can
AH-7 VC-185 1973-74-8.5R can
AH-11 VC-239 Super Six 11x can
AH-12 VC-208 Feather Duster 11x can

Slant Six Points and small block cans are ink stamped with and inkstamped number...

I wonder what the AH-8 cross references to for an SMP number????

It should be more adjustable than the stocker yes....Seller did say he has 7 of them , and i would say that they are NOS stuff that has been discontinued....

No longer are there (7) left......Just got mine from eBay today.....
What a find!

It has the correct long looped heavy secondary spring that I am using...mine is black that I got from HP 340 distributor. In the Crane Kit it is yellow. The 11X can is the same one I am using which delivers exceptional punch and good mileage for my heavy 74 Dart Swinger. It comes with complete instructions on how to adjust the can and setup your distributor.

All you need is the "Bigslant6fan" spring kit to go with it. I use his green spring from his kit for the primary spring with a automatic transmission and 2.76 rear end. Others may not want their SL6 to be that punchy and prefer the blue or black spring for a little slower curve.

With the two kits you could recurve any SL6 vehicle.

I just bought 2 VC-239's from Standard Motor Products and they are 8.5R stamped and do not adjust to being 11X's like the original cans they are to replace. So these Crane cans may be the last of the possible 11 degree cans available in circulation...

I would love to slug the QA guy at SMP since I can buy a VC-173 can for cheaper than the VC-239 can and get the same results...
