Does anyone know the secret for freeing a rusted e-brake cable on a 7-1/4" with 9" brakes? There is a hard, inflexible area about a foot from one wheel, so I think the siezing is located in that area. I've tried soaking it with brake cleaner and PBS Blaster. I've heated it with a torch and rapped it with a hammer. Nothing seems to have any effect.

One side is free and that brake works, but 9" brakes are bad enough without having to rely on only one drum to bring you to a stop!

These are really hard to "un-seize" so I just replace them.
(They have a plastic liner inside, under the metal wrap so it is hard to get solvent / oil to the cable and heat melts the plastic.

it may be too late by now, but I swear by Mopar brand rust penetrant. It broke loose the heater control cables in my VW.

I've heard that dunking them, or repeatedly spraying them down with vinegar will free them up. Depends on how badly they are rusted. Phosphoric acid (maybe 5%) should also work well.
