Recently while I was rewiring my truck, I took the time to rewire the HEI module that I converted to a few years back.
I also took a picture of it.
I gutted the computer box and mounted it in there.
The engineers designed the computer housing to hook into the air intake for the engine to help with keeping the computer cool,
so I thought it would a good place to help keep the module cool.

I kept the vacuum advance pod in there just to plug that hole. Make note of how the pod is orientated when you pull the 2 halves of the housing apart, or it will not go back together easily.

All the wires I used when I did the conversion were all there plugged into the computer. They were 2 wires going to the coil, 2 to the distributor and 1 ground wire.

Doing this mod I was able to eliminate 15 wires from my wire harness.

I was planning on just converting my lean burn to Mopar electronic ignition on my 78 Aspen Wagon. Now I'm leaning this way to keep it stock looking. I could keep the air cleaner and no one would be wiser to me running Chevy parts on my Mopar. Have you had any heating up issues with it?

No heat issues at all. Been this way for few years now.
Mine gets good blast of air from engine air intake.
I should also note that mine is mounted behind the battery under the fender
not over the engine. Which i beleive yours is mounted to the breather, is this correct?

Yes mine is on the air filter housing. I'll have to look it over when I get home and then decide which direction I'm going.

I should have mentioned that i had read that you could use a computer CPU heatsink as a heat sink for the module.
Don't waste your time, I fried a good module that way.
Mine is mounted on 1/4" aluminium 8"x4 1/2" for the heatsink.
Dont forget that you have to ground the module.
Does your system have the ballast resistor?
I did not have one in mine so it made doing the HEI a nobrainer.
Oh and if this module dies I will save $150 replaceing it cause the computer is $200 to replace vs 50 or less for a module.

My system doesn't have the ballast resistor. I have everything to do the Mopar ECU conversion where the HEI conversion would cost me around 80.00-100.00 depending on whose module, coil I used as I was planning on using the AC Delco heat sink mounted on a piece of aluminium and MSD coil and module.
I just thought it would be cool to keep the stock look. Now that I think of it I probably have the correct non lean burn air cleaner for my 78 Aspen.
Decisions, decisions. lol
