Hello all, new to the forum and will probably be posting a lot of questions in the future. Hopefully this one isn't too dumb.

I have a /6 out of a 76 valiant station wagon. I am planning on mating it with a 80 aspen 833od that i will be picking up this weekend. Unfortunately i was too late to grab the bellhousing with it. I know that the post-75 bellhousings have the holes for 3 and 4 speeds and have the 5.125 bearing retainer hole, but is there any other real difference? I noticed on brewers website that they were listing one for 81-86 trucks and one for 76-80 trucks and a/f bodies but from the description they sounded the same.

The later truck bellhousing has a different clutch fork and pivot.

Does the crank in the newer engine have a pilot bearing?

Also, I'm really curious to see a '76 Valiant wagon.

I don't know, i didn't think of that. The aspen engine is long gone, the owner just has the transmission. That would be an issue with my crank wouldn't it?
As far as the fork assembly i am not matching anything up with an existing vehicle so i would just need to get the right parts. This will be having a car built around it so i am mainly worried with fit and function of the engine right now.

As for the valiant wagon the guy i bought the engine off of was going to scrap it. It was the first one i had ever seen, and it surprised me that it had a 4 speed in it. I will see if i can hunt down the picture he posted.

Here is the donor car, it would have been a neat cruiser.

Ah, you meant Volare station wagon...

My family had one of those! Automatic with a 1bbl, though. :(
